Family Promise of Puget Sound

Preventing and Ending Family Homelessness

Stay Housed.
Stay Together.

We believe every family deserves the stability of a home. Our Eviction Prevention program is designed to support families facing a temporary crisis, keeping you safe, together, and out of the shelter system.

Who We Serve

Our funding is specifically focused on “pre-shelter” prevention—helping families resolve a crisis before they lose their housing.

Families with Children

To be eligible, the household must include at least one child under the age of 18. We are dedicated to ensuring children have a stable place to grow.

Sustainable Future

The leaseholder must currently be employed. This ensures that after we assist with the immediate crisis, your family can sustain rent payments moving forward.

Unexpected Crisis

Assistance is for those facing a specific emergency, such as a natural disaster, car repair affecting work, or job loss/reduced hours (which accounts for 90% of our cases).

Program Guidelines

We want to be transparent about what our funding can cover so you can plan the best path forward for your family.

  • One Month of Back Rent: The program covers a maximum of one month of past-due rent to catch you up.
  • Assistance Cap: Total financial assistance is capped at $2,000 per family per calendar year.
  • Stability Tracking: We partner with you for 12 months using our Budget Builder system to ensure long-term housing stability.

Checklist for Success

Please have these items ready to ensure your application can be processed quickly:

  • Proof of Crisis: Eviction notice, late rent notice, or landlord text/email.
  • County Denial: Proof you applied for and were denied county-level prevention funds.
  • Landlord Info: Contact info and a W9 form from your landlord.
  • Release of Information (ROI): To allow us to advocate for you.

Are you a Landlord?

We partner with property owners to maintain stable tenancies and prevent the costs associated with turnover and eviction. By working with us, you help keep families in their homes.
