Welcome to Family Promise of Puget Sound’s emergency shelter! We are here to provide you and your family with immediate safety and support during this challenging time. Our emergency shelters, like the Overnight Emergency Warming Center, are designed for temporary stays and operate a bit differently from longer-term housing programs. Here’s what you can expect and what we want you to know:
* Our Main Goal: Our top priority is your immediate safety and meeting your basic needs. We focus on providing a safe, warm, and welcoming place for you to rest and regroup.
* Your Safety is Key: We have clear rules and procedures in place to keep everyone safe. When you arrive, we’ll go over important safety information, including emergency plans for fire or other situations. Our staff and volunteers are here to help manage any concerns and ensure a secure environment for all.
* Temporary Stay: Please understand that our emergency shelters are for short-term stays. We will work with you to quickly assess your immediate needs and connect you to resources that can help you move towards more stable housing as soon as possible. Our goal is to help you stabilize and then transition to a more permanent solution.
* Understanding Our Resources: We do our best to provide essential resources like cots, blankets, and hygiene items. We will let you know what is available and if there are any limitations. We also partner with other community organizations to try and get you additional support like food and clothing.
* What to Expect During Your Stay:
* We will quickly assess your immediate needs to make sure you get the most urgent help.
* Our consultation and exit processes are designed to be straightforward, recognizing that your stay here is temporary.
* While we focus on immediate stability, our team will also help connect you with referrals for longer-term support, such as housing assistance, employment services, or healthcare.
* Our staff and volunteers are trained to understand the stress and challenges you might be facing. We are here to support you with care and respect.
* We will clearly explain the shelter rules and expectations, as well as the next steps in your housing journey.
* Your Feedback Matters: Even though your stay is temporary, your comfort and safety are very important to us. Please let us know if you have any feedback, concerns, or suggestions. We have easy ways for you to share your thoughts, and we use your input to make our services better for everyone.
* Liability Waivers: Depending on the specific shelter, you may be asked to sign a liability waiver. This is a standard procedure that helps us acknowledge the unique nature of providing temporary shelter and ensures everyone understands their responsibilities. We will explain this clearly to you.
We are here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to ask staff or volunteers any questions you have during your stay.
