Family Promise of Puget Sound

Family Promise of Pierce County is a short-term housing program that serves families with children who are at imminent risk of homelessness or homeless families, provisioning an intense case management and limited financial assistance based on family’s needs.

Our program rules are meant to support you and inform you of the Family Promise of Pierce County participation guidelines. Your communication with staff, attendance, preparation, and engagement in program activities are essential to meeting your individual goals. Individuals will work with our program team to set goals and establish a plan to work toward sustainable housing.

I. Essential components of working toward stability with Case Managers

Engagement ensures your spot in the program

Regular attendance and preparation will build momentum toward your goals, so you may ensure your progress toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Communication to staff is essential to engagement. Participants are asked to communicate any changes and/or cancellations 24 hours in advance to the staff member they are scheduled to meet with.

Obtaining Housing Stability

Participants with housing barriers will work with their Case Manager on finding housing solutions and meet multiple times a week with their Case Manager until housing stability is achieved.

Limited financial assistance can be discussed with their Case manager

Addressing Unique Family Needs

Individuals with barriers around employment are expected to work on this barrier with their Case Manager

Creating and maintaining an expense tracking/budget

Running a credit report, as needed, to understand financial health and implications to housing.

Working towards obtaining/renewal public benefits, IDs, SSNs cards, birth certificates, etc with support of Case Manager

Any other needs/barriers can be worked on with Case Manager

II. Conduct that could jeopardize your participation in the FPPC (All Participants)

Violation of any rules outlined in this document.

Misrepresentation of facts in any portion of the application process.

Destruction of FPPC property

Disengagement and failure to attend/prepare in your plans, goals, and activities for one (1) weeks or more. We consider this a voluntary withdrawal from the program.

To terminate services, Family Promise will, at a minimum:

• Provide written notice to the participant with a clear statement of the reasons for termination;

• Provide an opportunity for the participant to present written or oral objections before a person other than the person (or subordinate of the that person) who made or approved the termination decision; and,

• Prompt written notice of the final decision to the participant.

III. Conduct that could result in your immediate dismissal from all programs (All Participants)

Consumption or possession of drugs (including another’s prescription drugs) or alcohol or marijuana on the FPPC property, including Day Center and Night Shelter, is strictly prohibited.

Use of nicotine products on the premises of FPPC is strictly prohibited

Violence or threat of violence by participants of any age, or by their guests/acquaintances will result in immediate expulsion from the program. Participants will not touch, push, assault, or threaten anyone, FPPC personnel or volunteers, or any other representative of the FPPC community. This is a very serious offense and will result in immediate removal of the participant from the property and the program.

Theft will result in dismissal from the program and report to law enforcement.

Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.

IV. Statement of Understanding and Agreement (All Participants)

I have read or have been read this document, entitled Family Promise of Pierce County Program Agreement. I am responsible for knowing and understanding its content. I agree to abide by the rules, regulations, and policies of Family Promise of Pierce County. I am aware that as long as I comply with the rules as stated herein, my stay at FPPC is on a month-to-month basis, as determined by the FPPC Team. Failure to follow the program rules may result in termination of housing and/or services.
